Winnie & Walter Leading Lady, Take 1

Kindness blooms a Winnie and Walter card by Carson Riutta, September Leading Lady

Hello again friends, I’m pretty stoked to be here sharing this project and news with you today.  I was approached by Shay from the Winnie & Walter stamp company to be their Leading Lady for the month of September.  What that means is that I’ve been given the opportunity to play and create with a number of their amazing products and I’ll be sharing those creations on my blog and theirs, every Saturday throughout the month.

Here is one of a trio of cards I created using the cacti images from the beautiful Kindness stamp set designed by Evelin T.  Head over to the Winnie & Walter blog to see the other cards in the trio and read about how I create when a new stamp set crosses my desk for the first time.  But before you go, read on and learn how to win a gift card to get your own beautiful Winnie & Walter products.

You see, I’m also hosting a giveaway here on my blog that begins now and runs through the end of the month.  For every comment you leave on a Saturday post, you will be entered to win a $30 Winnie & Walter gift card.  I will choose a random winner from all the comments on the last day of the month. For those of you who leave a comment on all four of my Saturday posts, you will receive an extra entry in the drawing.

So I would love to know what your favorite/current go-to card making technique is.  Mine is blending, and I’m hooked,  but we all need to keep pushing our creative boundaries, so lets give each other some new ideas to try!

Thank you so much for popping in today and don’t forget to head over to the Winnie & Walter blog for more bright colors and adorable cacti.

Happy Crafting!

Carson, I missed your first post so I went back to check it out. I am glad I did. I love your cards. All three of them. I am going to try that when I stamp later today. Your colors are so awesome. My favorite go to card making technique is blending too. Right now I am trying to blend inks and pencils or watercolors and pencils together. I look forward to this month with you on W&W.Thanks for sharing your work.

  22. Kay Burkinshaw - September 12, 2016

Great colour combo really hot! Awesome blending.
Loving watercolouring, with paints or distress, very relaxing and rewarding. Even my failures can be cut up and used somehow!
Pleased to have found your blog via winnie&walter, thanks for the inspiration.

My favorite go to technique lately has been distress ink blending. It’s very forgiving and the options are limitless

And I’m back…catching up in reverse order…cheering and applauding your first set of Leading Lady cards! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about your approach to crafting, focusing on a key image and bringing it to life in different ways. Although cactus doesn’t grow where I live (aside from indoors), I adore them all the same; seeing these as your focal points made me smile right off the bat! The vibrant ‘sunrises’, both as a blended background and stripes, are stellar! The cactus patterned background, so pretty! You’ve definitely taught us how to get mileage from our stamps! Thank you for sharing ‘Kindness’ with us!

So nice to meet you! Really liked you post over at WW. Beautiful trio and a fabulous post and explanation of your process. Funny, I just recently created two sets of four cards while I had one stamp set out in use! What a great feeling. As for my current love – making a card based on wild fashion photos 😉

  26. Keena - September 17, 2016

Beautiful cards! I love that technique!! I was playing around with blending the other day! It is so much fun and there’s so many possibilities!!

  27. Kristi H. - September 20, 2016

Your bright palette consistently draws me in for a closer look, and your creations inspire me to stretch myself creatively. My go-to technique has to be die cutting, as I usually have one or more on most of my cards, but I’m moving color blending up on my list of things to practice. Congratulations on this opportunity; I’d say you killed it, with kindness!

  28. Maye M.L. - September 22, 2016

Fabulous opportunity to discover your designs. Your use of color is marvelous. Love to challenge myself new techniques. Watercolor has been one of my most used coloring strategies for a while. Ink blending for backgrounds is very appealing albeit. I just completed a self-imposed challenge of creating several cards using just 3 sets of stamps and minimal supplies. It is meant as a tutorial to accompany a gift for a friend who is just starting with stamping and card making. Your trio of cards has inspired me to start another card making challenge using some of the ideas you have shared. Cheers!

I do declare that you are queen of the beautiful backgrounds. Well done.
